Practice Areas

Jessica's primary practice area is Marital & Family Law, but she also offers the following services:

■ Helping clients reach different types of legally binding agreements, settlements, or modifications to existing ones, drafting and filing them

■ Landlord-Tenant Law

and

■ Debt Collection and Debt Resolution matters

Fees: Competitive hourly rates and flat fees.

Marital & Family law clients are seeking clarity and protection of their rights at a difficult time. As your legal counsel, our goal is generally two-fold:

1.)   To empower you to be an active part of determining the outcome and the terms that you need, and to help you realize them;

2.)   To identify and protect any lawful entitlements you may have (child support, spousal support, and equitable distribution of marital assets) and to ensure that your rights and interests are protected.

Collaborative Divorce

JWL also represents clients who think they might want a collaborative divorce, instead of the more traditional kind. While collaborative divorce follows a lot of the same basic steps and principles, both parties sign a joint agreement up front, in which they affirm that their dissolution will be non-adversarial (from a legal standpoint), and they agree not to litigate.

WHATEVER MARITAL OR FAMILY LAW MATTER YOU’RE CONSIDERING, Jessica can walk you through all of your options and pursue resolution and relief for you when you’re ready.

Landlord–Tenant Law

Jessica has represented both sides of Landlord-Tenant matters, but most commonly the Landlord party. Whether your situation involves a commercial or residential property, we follow the Florida statutes to ensure civil, timely evictions, when lesser means have been inadequate.

Negotiated Agreements & Settlements (Dispute Resolution)

Jessica is a firm, effective liaison to help clients achieve or enforce a legally binding agreement with another party on a number of matters. If your need is to create such a document, she drafts agreements or settlements with sound legal knowledge and attention to detail. She can also attend mediation with you, where an agreement is drafted by a certified mediator, under Jessica’s oversight and review.

Every situation is unique. Whether the issue is adjusting an old time-sharing schedule for your teenage children that no longer fits, a property dispute or an old unpaid debt, issues like these can often be resolved with the help of a diplomatic, skilled lawyer.

Debt Resolution & Collection Matters

Sometimes Jessica is retained to help people be paid back by someone who has defaulted on some sort of personal debt or loan. Often the person has tried on his or her own for a long time to work things out without any luck. Sometimes it takes letting an experienced lawyer step in for the debtor to take paying the debt back seriously.

Similarly, sometimes people retain Jessica to negotiate down a debt that they owe (e.g., to a credit card company), or to negotiate some sort of reasonable payment plan. If you have been served a Complaint for a debt and a summons to court, she can help.
